Trip description

Why not go a little differently under Everest to the base camp (BC)?

Trek across three saddles – Renjo la, Kongma la and Chola combined with a trek to the base camp of BC Mt. Everest is a more challenging trek that takes you to the less visited Khumbu region with views of the world's highest mountains. The BC Everest trek is a longer version of it, and participants are excited not to return along the same route, but to get to know as much of this wonderful area as possible.

This route in Nepal takes you through the remote and untouched Nangpa La Valley, to the Sherpa village of Marlung and the monastic village of Thame.

The next day after arriving in Kathmandu, we will fly between the mountains to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. This is followed by a trek along the classic route to Sagarmatha National Park, known for its colorful landscape, wild Dudh Koshi River, gompas and monasteries. After reaching the saddle of Kongma La, the spectacle of the impressive and cracking Khumbu Glacier opens up to us.

During this trek, which includes a visit to BC Everest, it is also possible to climb the Kala Patthar view peak (5600 m), from where there are unique views of Mt. Everest and other peaks and Gokyo Peak (5357 m). Next, there is a tough climb to the Cho La saddle, which will finally lead us to the cobalt blue Gokyo lakes. After enjoying the amazing view from the fifth lake and Gokyo Ri, we will go to the next saddle, Renjo La. After a night in Marlung, we will take the route used by Tibetan traders for centuries through Nangpa La to Thame. Following the classic route, we go down to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu.

Afterwards, we have a free day in Kathmandu offering a short exploration of Kathmandu's temples, shrines, bazaars and restaurants.

At every step in Nepal, we will meet Buddhism, which will be reminded not only by monasteries, prayer wheels and monks, but also by the ubiquitous prayer flags, stupas and mani stone walls. In Kathmandu we get to know Hinduism again. Go on a more challenging adventure in Nepal with us. (We go on the trek in small groups!)

Start discovering the world of the Himalayas.

  • Day 4: Namche Baazar acclimatization (3,440m) – To acclimatize to the gained altitude and thinner air, we will spend a day in Namche Bazaar. There are several quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, shops, exchange offices, internet cafes and bakeries in this town, also the largest in the Everest region. We will visit a nearby museum known for its traditional artifacts that show the Sherpa culture. We also head to Syangboche Airport for rewarding views of the stunning sunrise and sunset over the Himalayan skyline.
  • Day 5: Namche Baazar – Deboche (3,800m)– From the village we will go along the path above Dudh Kosi with wonderful views of Mount Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse. We pass Tibetan shops and descend through a pine forest with a re-ascent to Thyangboche Monastery (3,867 m) from where there is a magnificent view of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Taboche and other peaks. Thyangboche Monastery was severely damaged by fire in 1989, but has since been rebuilt. We will have time to visit the monasteries and the museum. We will then arrive at our tea house in Deboch.
