Date

20. 10. - 5. 11. 2024

Trip description

A wonderful more sporty trek around Manaslu (8,163 m), the eighth highest mountain in the world, offers wonderful views of the Annapuren massif, the surrounding 7,000 m peaks and the biological diversity of the region.

The highest point of this trek is the Larkya La Pass, widely believed to be one of the most dramatic passes in the Himalayas. The route passes through different types of cultural landscapes, from Nepalese terraced fields to typically Tibetan highlands.

We will start in the valley of the Buri Gandaki river between rice fields surrounded by tropical jungle at an altitude of 600 m. The vegetation will change every day, from bamboos to deciduous and coniferous forests to rugged mountain landscapes. The trek is designed in such a way that we ensure you have enough time for proper acclimatization.

We trek in small groups!

Start discovering the world of the Himalayas.

Overnight at the campsite.
  • Day 7: Trek from Jagat to Ngyak (2,310m). After climbing the terraced hill of Saguleri and the view of Sringi Himal (7,177 m) we continue towards Sirish Gaon, the Gandaki valley narrows from here with towering steep walls. Overnight at the campsite.
  • Day 8: Trek from Ngyak to Ghap (2,100 m) Follow the path upstream of the Deng River - a small village with 4 houses. From here we pass through a newly built rock tunnel and thus avoid the traditional steep climb. In Ghap we meet Tibetan culture, Mani stones and chortens. Overnight at the campsite.
  • Day 9: Trek from Ghap to Lho (3,200 m) After crossing the wooden bridge over the Budhi Gandaki, we follow a path lined with houses that are interspersed with cultivated fields. Naike Peak, North Manaslu (7,774 m) and Manaslu (8,150 m) can be seen from here. Tonight we camp near a spring in Lho gaon - a small village. Overnight at the campsite.
  • Day 10: Trek from Lho to Samagompa (3,500 m) You pass the stone gate and long stone wall of the Mani village beyond Lho with a full view of peak 29 ahead. From there we can take a side trip to the Pungen Glacier to get a very close look at Manasla. We proceed along the lateral moraine of the Pungen glacier towards Sama. From Sama village, it takes another 20 minutes to reach Sama Gompa for our overnight stop. Overnight in camps.
  • Day 11: Trek from Samagompa to Stone Hut (4,500 m) Today we climb from here to a terraced hill on the opposite bank of the Budhi Gandaki river towards the farthest permanent settlement – Samdo. The descent is steep, over moraines, towards Bhimphedi. Overnight in tent camps.
