Join us on a three-day trek in the western part of the Hochschwab Mountains in Austria. Part of our alpine crossing of the Austrian Alps will be the ascent to the 2003 m high Brandstein peak, which is one of the magnificent landmarks of this part of the mountain range.
The Hochschwab is a beautiful mountain range in the east of Austrian Styria. The seemingly impregnable limestone walls of the Alps rise steeply from the deep valleys, but at the top, the relief of the limestone plateaus will surprise many. A beautiful alpine ridge awaits us along the grassy slopes of Austria and between limestone cauldrons and with beautiful alpine flora.
The three-day journey starts and ends at the Green Lake, which is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in Styria. The peculiarity of the lake is its emerald green color, which is due to the rock of the Hochschwab massif. If desired, the trip can be extended by 1 day with an ascent to Ebenstein 2123m.
The program includes hikes lasting mostly 7 hours with an elevation gain of up to 1500 m. The trek is of difficulty level 2/5. There are steeper sections in a few places. The climb to Brandstein is not technically demanding. You sleep in mountain huts (easy hiking) or in a tent in early spring. We guide the treks in small groups of up to 6 people.
This crossing of the Austrian Alps is ideal for getting to know classic Alpine high-altitude hiking and for testing your fitness.

The hike is suitable for both beginners and advanced hikers who want to go on a multi-day mountain crossing and are fans of high-altitude hiking. The hike is slightly challenging. In places there are more exposed sections. The ascent to Brandstein leads through a rubble field. The hike is also suitable for able-bodied children who like to walk and can withstand 6-hour hikes. We order the family group separately.

We recommend the first night in the village of Tragöss-Oberort in apartments or in a campsite, which includes a natural swimming pool. Another two nights at local chalets or in tents if it was the beginning of the spring season.
