Experience the fascinating world of ice climbing in the impressive setting of the Austrian Alps with CK Himalaya! During this unique tour, you will immerse yourself in the cold beauty of the ice walls and conquer the majestic icefalls that this mountain region has to offer.

This event is intended for experienced and advanced ice climbers who want to improve their climbing skills and overcome difficult ice challenges. We assume knowledge of ice climbing movements, belaying a co-climber, the basics of working with a rope and abseiling with belay devices.

Our experienced UIAGM mountain guides will be at your disposal throughout the hike to ensure your maximum safety and comfort. He will share his ice climbing knowledge and experience with you and help you perfect your technique and take your climbing skills to a new level.

During the multi-day climb, we will visit different ice walls and icefalls that are adapted to your skills and physical fitness. You will experience the adrenaline and excitement of climbing the ice wall, admire the breathtaking panoramic views from the top and enjoy the friendly atmosphere in the group of ice climbers.

The UIAGM mountain guide has the highest international license to work in the mountains and has liability insurance.

What can you look forward to?

  • Day 0 – departure from Prague in the afternoon, arrival at the location in the evening.
  • 1st day – Climbing with top belay on sloping to vertical ice, the difficulty will be chosen according to the ability of the participants and the current ice conditions. Principles of correct movement when climbing on ice. Climbing tricks and important details.
  • 2nd day – Building stands and abseiling stations (from screws, Abalak's clock, ice pear). Method of establishment of progressive insurance. Practical demonstrations, including independent training. Climbing training.
  • 3rd day – Self-climbing with drilling of screws, self-creation of belay positions. Principles of securing a co-climber on the ice, safety rules of a climbing pair or trio. … Climbing at the first end of the rope or in difficult terrain. After climbing, departure home.
In the mentioned areas, it is possible to choose suitable climbing lines of various levels of difficulty.
You can climb either in a climbing pair or a maximum of 2 people per UIAGM mountain guide.

  • The price does not include:

    Insurance
    Climbing equipment
    Accommodation in an apartment
    Transport to the place and back (you can take your own car or agree on shared transport and pay for it)
    Meals in apartments, sometimes there is a kitchenette available, sometimes you go to a restaurant for dinner

     

  • Mandatory equipment:
    Seat cushion
    Belay (HMS carabiner + belay)
    Climbing helmet
    Ice axes and cats
    All other material (screws, express, rope) will be provided by the UIAGM mountain guide. If you don't have your own ice axes and crampons, let us know and we'll make arrangements.

  • On each other (apart from the classic layering, which we leave up to each participant):
    Waterproof pants and jacket
    Gloves (ideal thin, warm for them, skiing or ice climbing), strong leather mountains or skeletons
    An important part of ice climbing equipment is footwear. We must have shoes compatible with the fixing of the jacks and with the appropriate hardness of the sole, which allows a stance on the front points of the jacks. Climbing skeletons can also be used to climb icefalls.

  • What to take with you:
    Spare gloves
    A thermos with a hot drink, a snack,
    Warm clothes (down vest or jacket as insulation for protection).
    Quality gloves for climbing icefalls, mittens are not suitable.

    Flat loop
    A helmet
    Basic first aid kit (plasters, bandage, disinfection)
    A thermos with a hot drink, a snack
    Toiletries, food, spare clothes, change of clothes and slippers

Alpenverein membership is most suitable. If you don't have it, you can arrange it with us and use it all year round.
