He was born in Jičín in the Bohemian Paradise. He started climbing in the nearby Prachovské skály with his friends from the Jičín grammar school. He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at CTU, majoring in geodesy-cartography. In his youth, he tried a variety of sports, including paragliding, judo and others, until at the age of seventeen he was fascinated by climbing, after all, he was close to the Prachovské skaly.
He undertook a total of thirteen expeditions to eight thousand meters, always without the use of oxygen devices. Since 1995, he has been working as head of expeditions. He participated in expeditions to Cho Oya (1993, 2006, 2011) and Dhaulágiri (1994), Šiša Pangma (1995, 2003, 2007), as well as to Manasla (1996), Makala (1998), Lhoc (1999), Kanchenzheng (2000). , K2 (2001) and Mount Everest (2005).
Together with Luďek Ondřej, Petr Skřivánek, Mirek Novotný and others, he founded the company HIMALAYA 8000 in 1992, which organizes Himalayan expeditions and sells outdoor equipment.
In 1998, he co-founded the Professional Association of Mountain Guides of the Czech Republic (ČAHV) with his colleague Víťa Novák, Dušan Stuchlík and other friends. The association was accepted into the international UIAGM in 2006. He led his clients on all continents of the world.
For Central Europe, it represents the brands SKI TRAB, ABS Airbag.
The mountain film festival Banff World Tour is co-organized by the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The greatest joy in his life is his children Gábina, Sára and Péťa.
