Join us for an unforgettable freeride experience on the island of Hokkaido in Japan!

Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island, is a paradise for powder lovers and offers some of the best snow conditions in the world. This region is known for its incredible amount of snow, with up to 18 meters falling annually! Its snow-capped mountains and breathtaking nature attract freeriders from all over the world, eager to experience the finest powder.

On our freeride adventure trip, we visit the Niseko area, known for its exceptional snow cover and diverse terrain suitable for skiing and snowboarding of all levels. After that, we will move to the north of Hokkaido to the Tengu Mountains area, where an exclusive experience awaits us - riding a private cat ski on the slopes of Mount Tengu. This trip is only for our group, which guarantees us maximum freedom and an authentic experience away from the crowds.

The UIAGM mountain guide has the highest international license to work in the mountains and has liability insurance.

What can you look forward to?

Day 1 – (arrival day) / 17.2.: arrival in Sapporo and transfer to Engaru accommodation Maure villa

  • On each other, on the hike, on the climb up:
    – T-shirt long and short sleeve (PowerStretch, Merino 210-250g/m2 or thicker wool) 2x
    – weak shirt (Sensor, Devold, Icebreaker, etc.) 2x
    – Softshell jacket
    – Vestu (Polartec)
    – underwear with long legs (PowerStretch, Sensor, Devold, Icebreaker)
    – ski alpine pants
    – ski/snowboard socks-knee boots 2-3x
    – hats, headbands, multifunctional scarves/neck scarves, e.g. HAD or Buffo
    – gloves (ski/snowboard)
    – sports sunglasses (skialp, bike, etc..)
  • For yourself, for waiting, downhill, for bad weather:
    – an insulated jacket/insulation jacket or, even better, a down jacket or vest (this will also come in handy during your free time!)
    – jacket and trousers resistant to wind, waterproof, hooded jacket (Gore-tex, Sympa-tex, Hydro-tex, etc.)
    – insulated shorts (Primaloft.) for less active movement, etc.
    – a warm hat
    – spare gloves or coveralls as insulation
    – ski goggles (for bad weather)
  • Other necessary equipment:
    – avalanche search device, probe, shovel
    – Freeride skis min. 110 mm, with bindings (necessarily brakes), ski poles with wide plates or Freeride SnowBoard
    – helmet (for downhill)
    – whistle – fog rescue, flashlight (headlight), spare battery for search engine and head lights
    – a drinking container (preferably a thermos, a Nalgene bottle ideally with insulation)
    – avalanche backpack/freeride – not a requirement, only recommended if you
    you are taking an avalanche backpack, it is not necessary to take a skitourig/splitboard backpack with you
    – face cream (without water), something for the lips – all with a UV filter for the mountain environment
    – basic first aid kit (ALU isotherm foil, plasters with and without a pad, plasters for blisters, painkillers, pills for intestinal problems, bandage, disinfectant...)
    – Passport, suitable travel insurance for freeride activities!!!
  • To accommodation:
    – Leisure outdoor clothing
    – Things to change clothes, slippers
    – Hygienic needs
  • Knowledge of working with avalanche search devices, avalanche probe and shovel is automatically assumed.
  • Above average skills in driving in open terrain and driving in sparse forest
