Trip description

The climb to the Grossglockner "Great Bell Tower" offers several options for climbing according to your wishes and experience. That is why the highest peak in Austria and the entire Eastern Alps is so popular among climbers.

  • Classic route from Kals – for beginner climbers
  • Stüdlgrat – for more experienced climbers, climbing difficulty level III-IV UIAA
  • Pallavicini couloir – for discerning mountain gourmands.

    On the first day, we climb to the Stüdlhütte (2,801 m). On the second day, we will climb the chosen variant to the main peak of the Grossglockner (3,798 m) and return to the Lucknerhaus hut (1,918 m) and the cars.

The Grossglockner climb will surely be one of your most impressive summits!

The UIAGM mountain guide has the highest international license to work in the mountains and has liability insurance.

What can you look forward to?

  • 1st day – ascent to the mountain hut Stüdlhütte alone (2,801 m)
  • Day 2 – climb to the top Grossglockner(3,798 m) and return back to the Lucknerhaus hut (1,918 m) and the cars.
Adequate physical condition and climbing experience in the case of the variant are necessary for the ascent of the Grossglockner Stüdlgrat. 
A maximum of 1-2 persons per mountain guide UIAGM u classic variants and 1-2 persons Stüdlgrat.
  • Price includes:
    Event leadership by a UIAGM mountain guide.
    Organizational provision of the event on site
    Cancellation insurance.

  • The price does not include:
    Accommodation in mountain huts, food
    Own transport, it is necessary to take the guide with you. Alternatively, we can arrange the transport
    Travel insurance.

  • Glacier equipment:
    crampons, ice axe, seat, helmet, sewn loop, 2x HMS carabiner. If you are missing some of the described equipment, contact us and we will arrange the next procedure.
  • Suitable clothing, footwear and accessories:
    Glacier weather can be changeable and cold. It is ideal to layer clothes.
    lower insulation (underwear), softshell pants, waterproof jacket (goretex), light down jacket (mainly girls), vest, two gloves (light + warmer), two socks, scarf, hat, glacier goggles, climbing shoes "category D" with option cat fastening, backpack approx. 30 l, headlamp, basic first aid kit, thermos, Alpenverain insurance - can be arranged in our CK personal sleeping bag insert documents, mobile phone, charger
They sleep in mountain huts in shared dormitories. Beds have a "larisa" blanket and pillow - bring your own  sleeping bag liner. Social facilities are shared. Accommodation with half board costs from €50/person/night
