Pikey Peak Trekking is one of the best Everest treks if you want to have the best view of Mount Everest in a short period of time.

This is a new trekking route in the Everest region of Nepal. The amazing short Pikey Peak trek starts and ends in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. If you want to trek in secluded places off the beaten track of Nepal, this trek is best for you.

What can you look forward to?

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu – hotel accommodation.  
  • Day 2: Kathmandu - City Sightseeing Tips – Boudhanath one of the largest and most famous Buddhist stupas in the world, Pashupatinath Hindu monastery and ceremonial place for cremations, Durbar Square the original royal palace.
  • Day 3: from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazar (2850 m, 7 hours, 250 km). From Kathmandu we will take a private jeep or bus to Dhap Bazaar. The road follows the Sunkoshi River which further ahead on our journey joins the Tama Koshi River to form the great Koshi River up to Ghurmi. We enjoy a typical Nepali meal and continue driving along dense rhododendron forests. We will pass through numerous residential areas before reaching Dhap Bazaar, which will take approximately 3 hours to reach.
  • Day 4: From Dhap Bazaar to Jhapre (2815 m, 4 hours, 13 km). Today we will continue along the dirt road leading to Sigane. The trail again continues on bumpy roads to Jhapre. It is known for its exceptional views of the mountains located in the northern region of the country. From here we can clearly see Everest (8848m) and Numbur Himal, and we will also visit gompas and stupas in the village.
  • Day 5: Z Jhapre to Taklung (3420 m, 5 hours, 8 km). We wake up early in the morning to see the first golden rays of the sun falling on the snow-capped mountains. After that we will continue trekking on a dirt road for some time and then start pedaling uphill till Bhulbul. From there, the trail becomes steep and climbs through rhododendron forests and small Taklung settlements.
  • Day 6: Taklung to Pikey Base Camp (3640 m, 5 hours, 9 km). The trail leads to Lhamuje to a pasture where we can see yaks grazing. We cross the long face of the Mani and climb the winding road to Pikey Base Camp. We will visit the Yak Cheese Factory and enjoy the magnificent views of the majestic mountains surrounding the valley.
  • Day 7: Base camp and ascent to Pikey. The day begins with a morning trek along the steep rocky ridge to Pikey Peak (4065m). We can admire the magnificent view of the sunrise over mountains like Mt. Everest (8848 m), Number Chuli (6959 m), Thamserku (6608 m), Kangtega (6685 m), Khatang (6853 m), Kanchenjunga (8586 m), Manaslu (8163 m), Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Gaurishankar (7134 m), Dorje Lakpa (6966 m) and Langtang.
  • Day 8: From Pikey Base Camp to Junbesi (2680 m, 6 hours, 14 km). We descend to Junbesi followed by a descent to Lamjura. Here we will visit the old monastery in this village and enjoy the beautiful view of Numbur Himal in the north.
  • Day 9: Thuptenchholing Gompa (2920 m, 4 hours, 9 km). We will alight at the 19th century Thuptenchholing Gompa. The Gompa offers an insight into the culture and religious heritage of the region. After spending some time here, we return to Junbesi.
  • Day 10: from Junbesi – Thaksindu (2960 m 5 hours, 9 km). We cross the river and take the upper left trail to the Salung ridge. First view of Everest from here, also views of Thamserka (6623 m) and Kusum Kangaru (6369 m). Descent to Ringmo Khola and gradual ascent to Traksindo pass (3200 m). A few minutes below the pass on the east side is the Traksindo Monastery. We will have excellent sunset/sunrise and mountain views from here. Overnight in the cottage.
  • Day 11: From Thankindu to Phaplu (2380 m, 4 hours, 11 km). Today we will follow the descending dirt path along the Junbesi Khola to the steel suspension bridge. After crossing the bridge we reach Chiwang Khola. Before we reach Phapl, we will continue to walk along a path full of scenic experiences.
  • Day 12: crossing from Phaplu to Kathmandu (9 hours)
  • Day 13: Tip for a trip around Kathmandu - Visit to Bhaktapur, 4th century Changu Narayan Temple protected by UNESCO, Swayambhunath - "Monkey Monastery."
  • Day 14: Kathmandu departure
  • Price includes:
    All service and meals on the trek including full board during the trek in good local lodges (in Nepal the usual cost of food is about 1500 CZK/day)
    PORTERS (regular price $30/day)
    Bed and breakfast in Kathmandu, local transportation by jeep or bus
    Entrance to the park
    Local or Czech guide, sirdhar and cook, porters and yaks, insurance for sirdhar and cook, medical equipment, if necessary we can and provide rescue by helicopter, coordination with insurance company, tents, social tent, shower, toilet, hyperbaric chamber.
